Review your historical cost basis

This page shows a cost-basis roll-forward for each security across a financial year: where it started, what moved during the year, and where it ended. By the end, you’ll be able to trace how each holding’s cost basis carried forward — useful for reconciling fund statements.

It isn’t in the Tax sidebar. Reach it either by:

  • Setting the FY on another tax page, then navigating to Historical Cost, or
  • Opening the URL directly: https://app.metrifly.com/tax/historical-cost?fy=FY2025.

The header shows Historical Cost, an FY dropdown, Tax settings, and Export.

Column What it means
Ticker / Exchange The security
Opening Units / Opening Cost The balance at the start of the year
FY Purchases The buy cost during the year
FY Sales The sale proceeds during the year
AMIT Adj A cost-basis adjustment, or if none
Closing Units / Closing Cost The balance at the end of the year

The Total row sums the cost columns.

When your data includes a fund’s annual statement, the AMIT Adj column reflects it. Cross-check these against the AMIT columns on your taxable income report.

Report What it shows
Capital gains report The gain or loss on each sale
Historical cost basis Each holding’s cost continuity across the year
